The European Union (EU) has welcomed the meeting of the joint Armenia-Turkey working group on the restoration and operation of the Kars-Gyumri railway line held in Kars.
“Elchi” reports that this was noted in an EU press release.
It was stated that the continued progress in the normalization process of relations between Armenia and Turkey reflects a positive dynamic for achieving long-term peace and stability in the region.
The EU also expressed its support for the full normalization of relations between Yerevan and Ankara.
The press release emphasized that the launch of the Kars-Gyumri railway line will contribute to strengthening regional connectivity, which will bring practical benefits to all countries and peoples of the South Caucasus.
The EU reaffirmed its commitment to the development of transport and economic connectivity in the region within the framework of its “Global Gateway” strategy, the interregional connectivity program, and the Trans-Caspian transport corridor, in which Armenia and Turkey play an important role.
It should be noted that the meeting of the joint Armenia-Turkey working group on the restoration and operation of the Kars-Gyumri railway line took place on April 28 and was held within the framework of the agreements reached in the process of normalizing relations between the two countries.
