Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva visited the Khan Mosque in Shaki

Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva visited the Khan Mosque as part of their trip to the city of Shaki.

elchi reports that during the visit, the imam of the mosque, Vugar Mammadov, provided Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva with detailed information about the Khan Mosque complex.

It was stated that the 18th-century Shaki Khan Mosque is one of the city’s important religious, cultural, and historical-architectural monuments. According to historical sources and inscriptions on the monument, the mosque was built by Haji Mahammad-Huseyn Khan.

It was noted that restoration work at the historic Shaki Khan Mosque was carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. A museum has also been established on the territory of the mosque complex. The museum displays exhibits dating back to the Shaki Khanate period and material culture samples collected from various sources.

Museum visually demonstrates the history of the creation and formation of the Shaki Khanate, as well as its special place in our national statehood history.

In the end, a “Holy Quran” was presented to Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva.
