Iran’s Permanent Mission to the UN has stated that the responsibility for the violation of security in the Strait of Hormuz lies with the US.
“Elchi” reports that “Khabar Fouri” has released this information.
It was stated that Iran has not joined the 1982 Law of the Sea Convention and does not consider itself obligated to fulfill the provisions of the treaties:
“As the primary coastal state, Iran has the right to take appropriate measures in the Strait of Hormuz to combat security threats and prevent military-related abuses.”
It was noted that the responsibility for disruptions to maritime transport and their consequences lies with the US. “Lasting peace in the region can only be achieved through the permanent cessation of aggression against Iran, the provision of credible guarantees against its recurrence, and full respect for its sovereign rights,” the Iranian Permanent Mission to the UN stated.
