MES has appealed to the public regarding windy weather

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has appealed to the public in connection with the windy and unstable weather conditions expected in some areas.

elchi reports, citing the MES, that the appeal states:

“According to the National Hydrometeorology Service, intermittent strong winds are forecast in a number of areas in the coming days, with intensive rain in some places, short-term floods in some mountain rivers, and lightning.

Taking the above into account, the Ministry of Emergency Situations once again reminds of the relevant safety rules.

Thus, during strong winds, it is recommended to stay away from light structures and temporary buildings, buildings and billboards, and not to stand under electric poles and wires or tall trees.

In addition, considering the difficulties caused by strong winds in extinguishing fires, fire safety rules should be strictly observed in windy weather conditions. Also, small vessel operators should keep in mind that going out to sea in such weather conditions is prohibited.

Likewise, to protect against floods and inundations that may be caused by intensive rainfall, it is recommended to stay away from flood-prone areas and, if faced with this danger, to immediately move to nearby high ground.

At the same time, to protect against lightning-related dangers, it is necessary to disconnect electrical appliances from the network, not to use the phone (landline, mobile, payphone, etc.), not to approach power lines, lightning rods, gutters, and antennas while outdoors, not to take shelter under tall trees and choose relatively low-lying places for this purpose, and if in a car, to stop moving, roll up the windows, and wait for the lightning to pass,” the statement said.

The MES recommended calling 112 in case of danger.
