More than 500 houses flooded in Dagestan after heavy rains

Rescuers continue to eliminate the consequences of heavy rains in Dagestan (Russia).

“Elchi” reports that the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) has released information regarding this.

According to the report, 516 residential buildings, 556 household plots, and 45 sections of roads have been flooded across five municipalities. 523 people, including 173 children, have been placed in 16 temporary accommodation centers.

In the Chechen Republic, rainwater has receded. There are no flooded houses or plots left. Restoration work is underway, and commissions are working to assess the damage.

To eliminate the consequences of the bad weather, aircraft from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, along with a total of more than 3,300 personnel and over 700 pieces of equipment, have been deployed.

It should be recalled that in late March and early April, heavy rains fell in several districts of Dagestan, causing severe flooding and the destruction of residential houses. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, six people died as a result of the disaster. In total, up to 1.5 million residents were in the emergency zone. A total of 6,229 people, including 1,300 children, were evacuated. A federal state of emergency has been declared in Dagestan and neighboring Chechnya.
