Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Abbas Araghchi discussed the ceasefire reached between Tehran and Washington during a phone call.
“Elchi” reports, citing TASS, that this was stated in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Lavrov expressed hope for the success of the negotiation process and welcomed the two-week ceasefire agreement reached between the US and Iran,” the ministry said.
For his part, Araghchi thanked Moscow for its principled position in the UN Security Council during the discussion of the situation in the Persian Gulf.
“Moscow supports the extension of the ceasefire agreement in the conflict surrounding Iran to Lebanon as well,” the Russian Foreign Ministry declared.
