First meeting of heads of state bodies responsible for religious affairs of OTS members may be held

The holding of the first meeting of the heads of state institutions responsible for religious affairs of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is being discussed.

“Elchi” reports that Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, who is on a visit to Turkey, said this during his meeting with OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev.

During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on the current state and prospects of cooperation in the religious and spiritual sphere between Azerbaijan and OTS member countries, the implementation of joint projects, and opportunities for expanding mutual experience exchange.

The Chairman of the Religious Committee provided information on the model of state-religion relations in Azerbaijan, traditions of religious tolerance and multiculturalism, as well as the state policy implemented in this area. He emphasized that the iftar tables organized in Turkey by the State Committee and the Foundation for Promotion of Moral Values served to strengthen spiritual closeness and brotherhood among peoples.

Ramin Mammadov also touched upon the importance of cooperation within the framework of the OTS, in accordance with the strategic goals set by President Ilham Aliyev. He noted that within this format, strengthening coordination in the religious and spiritual sphere, forming unified approaches to common challenges, and creating systematic cooperation mechanisms are of great importance.

Kubanychbek Omuraliev, in turn, stated the importance of deepening cooperation within the framework of the OTS in promoting religious and spiritual values. The Secretary General expressed his satisfaction with the development of cooperation in the religious and spiritual sphere between Azerbaijan and the OTS, and stated their readiness to support the initiatives put forward in this direction, including the idea of organizing the first meeting of the heads of state institutions responsible for religious affairs of the member countries.
