Five people have died as a result of snow and torrential rains in two northern provinces of Pakistan.
Elchi.az reports that the local “Dawn” publication reported this with reference to the police.
“In Gilgit-Baltistan, after heavy snowfall, a tower collapsed on a house in Diamer, killing four people. In Balochistan, a roof collapse in Job city as a result of torrential rain killed one person,” the publication noted.
According to the police, in the Tangir valley of Diamer, an observation tower near a residential building collapsed on the house, as a result of which four members of a family died and two more were injured. It was noted that the number of victims may increase as the rescue operation continues. Due to the cold weather, roads are closed and power supply is interrupted in Gilgit-Baltistan.
In Job city, a child died as a result of the roof collapsing, and two people were injured. In addition, more than six people were hospitalized after accidents caused by icing.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts that rain and snowfall will continue in some parts of the country.
