Poland’s Ministry of Defense intends to provide Ukraine with two MiG-29 fighter jets as part of the next military aid package.
elchi reports that the newspaper “Rzeczpospolita” disseminated information about this, citing a representative of the Ministry of Defense, General Dariusz Lukowski.
According to this information, one of the fighters has already completely exhausted its flight resource, and the second is currently being operated by the Polish Air Force. The publication notes that the aircraft will be handed over in the near future.
The total value of the military aid package will be approximately 50 million euros, the publication writes. Information about what other weapons Ukraine will receive besides the two MiG-29s is not provided.
In December 2025, Poland’s defense department had announced plans to transfer 6 to 8 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, which were to be decommissioned by the end of 2025. In total, it was planned to decommission 14 aircraft of this type from the Polish Air Force.
