It is proposed to restrict officials from engaging in entrepreneurial and commercial activities, as well as holding additional paid positions.
elchi reports that these provisions are reflected in the draft law “On Conflict of Interest”, discussed at a joint meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Legal Policy and State Building and the Committee on Defense, Security, and Anti-Corruption held today.
According to the draft, an official cannot engage in entrepreneurial and commercial activities directly or through other persons. Except for scientific, pedagogical, and creative activities, the opinion of the authorized body will be required for an additional position or external activity.
Additional activity will only be possible if it does not interfere with the performance of the main duty and does not create a conflict of interest. The draft allows for income from deposits, securities, rent, and royalties in accordance with the law.
