Epizootological monitoring will be carried out among equids in Baku and Absheron

Epizootological monitoring will be carried out among equids in Baku city and Absheron region from November 16-20.

This was reported to elchi by the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency (AQTA).

It was stated that the main goal is to form horse breeding farms under epizootological control, strengthen biosecurity, and ensure continuous monitoring of horse health. These measures serve to expand the global trade and international movement of horses for sports and breeding purposes, as well as their participation in foreign competitions, and to organize world-class tournaments in our country.

During the monitoring, clinical examinations will be conducted among equids kept in horse breeding farms located in administrative territories determined by international experts and kept individually, for Japanese encephalitis, African horse sickness, equine viral arteritis, infectious anemia, and other diseases.

Diagnostic samples taken will be submitted to the Central Veterinary Laboratory of the Food Safety Institute. At the same time, the veterinary and sanitary condition of the farms will be assessed, and awareness-raising activities will be carried out among animal owners. The collected epizootological data will be analyzed through the “Epicollect 5” digital platform, and further measures will be planned.
