Mobile phones will also be considered POS terminals.
elchi reports that Kamran Ahmadov, Deputy Head of the Apparatus of the Ministry of Economy, stated this at today’s meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship.
Kamran Ahmadov said that the proposed amendments to the law “On Electronic Commerce” aim to adapt the concept of POS-terminal to modern payment technologies: “Currently, the concept of POS-terminal in the law is mainly defined as equipment used for processing payments with payment cards. The new approach covers the implementation of cashless payments, including contactless payments. This adapts the concept in the law “On Electronic Commerce” to modern practice and the actual situation. That is, in addition to card payments, any cashless payment, including contactless payment, is intended to be made by card. It is envisaged that not only special equipment, but also mobile phones with basic software and other end devices will be considered POS terminals, and as I mentioned earlier, contradictions in the current legislation are being eliminated.”
