Meleyke Abbaszade: Seminars on exam programs are held at the State Examination Center, but participation is low

Every year after the exams, we encounter a similar picture. Especially after the first exam, certain dissatisfaction arises regarding the difficulty of the questions, and various calls sometimes increase this dissatisfaction.

elchi reports that the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Examination Center (SEC), Meleyke Abbaszade, made a post on social media.

She stated that their position on this issue has always been clear: to objectively assess the difficulty level of the exam, it is first necessary to see the results and their statistical analysis:

“Impressions formed immediately after the exam, before the results are announced, do not always reflect the real picture. At the same time, it is more appropriate to investigate complaints about specific questions through appeal mechanisms. However, I want to draw your attention to another point. Currently, seminars on exam programs are being held at the State Examination Center. Unfortunately, the level of participation in these discussions is quite low. Although this is the right time to discuss the content, programs, and models of the exams.

Every year, before the exams, we present the programs and exam models to the public, and invite teachers, experts, and other interested parties to discussions. Our goal is not only to inform but also to listen to different opinions, study suggestions, and clarify possible questions in advance.”

The SEC chairman emphasized that last year, to look at this issue more deeply and to study the difference between expectations regarding the exams and post-exam assessments, they also conducted anonymous surveys:

“Surveys were conducted both before and after the exam. We have analyzed the results obtained and prepared them in the form of an article, which we are sharing with you. I invite everyone to read this article, familiarize themselves with the presented results, and exchange ideas on the topic. I believe that discussions based on facts and analyses can help to better assess the current situation and promote mutual understanding.

We would like to show the same level of activity in discussions before the exams as we do after the exams. Because our goal is not just to answer dissatisfaction, but to jointly investigate the reasons that cause it and further improve the assessment system.”
