Citizens with certain types and degrees of spinal curvature are considered fit for military service. The stage of scoliosis and kyphosis is taken into account.

It was stated that the stage of scoliosis and kyphosis is determined based on X-rays, by calculating Cobb angles as defined by V.D. Chaklin.
It was noted that citizens with 1st-degree scoliosis (Cobb angle up to 10 degrees), as well as 1st and 2nd-degree kyphosis (Cobb angle up to 50 degrees) are considered fit for military service when drafted or when voluntarily entering military service.
According to the information from the Service, spinal curvature that corrects itself when the head is pulled up or when lying down, and where no rotation is observed when bending forward, is not considered true structural scoliosis.
Such curvature is called postural scoliosis. Individuals with postural scoliosis are also considered fit for military service.
