“We are talking about hundreds of thousands of strike drones this year, and millions in the coming years. Our department has never seen such a pace,” he emphasized.
Heqset noted that this is a one-time investment, not a regular annual payment. He added that the request is part of efforts to make such technologies available in significantly larger quantities.
In August, Heqset was unable to convince the US Congress to approve a record $1.5 trillion defense budget before lawmakers went on recess.
