“Azerbaijan chairs CICA effectively, and Belarus, as an observer state, is ready to contribute to the expansion of the organization’s activities.”
elchi reports that this was stated by Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, during his speech at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
He thanked the leadership of Azerbaijan for the high-level organization of the forum and emphasized the importance of joint efforts to strengthen trust between states and peoples: “Currently, trust has become a serious deficit in international relations, and the potential for conflict has significantly increased. Wars lead to loss of life, disintegration of families, destruction of cities, and forced displacement. CICA plays an important role in developing multilateral approaches to promote peace, security, and stability in Asia. Belarus also supports the coordination of the conference’s activities with organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union. This cooperation can contribute to the development of unified logistics routes, trade opportunities, industrial and economic ties in Eurasia.”
Sergeyenko emphasized Belarus’s commitment to international law and the UN Charter, stating that there is no alternative to the transition to a multipolar world order.
The Belarusian official also put forward an initiative to prepare a charter on diversity and multipolarity in the Eurasian space. According to him, the document should enshrine the principles of indivisibility of security and responsibility of states, and promote economic cooperation and equal decision-making mechanisms.
