President Ilham Aliyev addressed the participants of the 2nd Meeting of Heads of Intellectual Property Agencies of the Turkic States.
elchi reports that the address stated:
“Dear participants of the event!
I sincerely welcome you to the 2nd Meeting of Heads of Intellectual Property Agencies of the Turkic States (OTS) in Baku.
Azerbaijan has always, especially during its chairmanship of the OTS, mobilized all its efforts for the institutional strengthening of the organization, the increase of its influence on the global stage, and the close unity of the Turkic world, which is our common family.
The Turkic world, located at the center of the historic Silk Road, has always been the homeland of great personalities, scientists, and thinkers. The rich scientific and cultural heritage of our peoples, our vast human capital, and our growing innovation potential create opportunities for the development of cooperation in the field of intellectual property as a separate direction within the OTS and for close interaction. In this regard, the organization of meetings of the heads of relevant agencies is commendable. Last year’s first meeting in Bishkek was a significant step in this direction.
The rapid development of artificial intelligence, digitalization, and other new solutions defines new tasks for intellectual property systems. In this process, while effectively utilizing the opportunities created by technological progress, it is of particular importance to ensure a reliable protection of the rights of authors and inventors, to promote innovation, and to strike an optimal balance between the interests of society.
In Azerbaijan, consistent measures are being implemented to accelerate digital transformation, as well as to strengthen scientific research and qualified personnel potential for the expansion of artificial intelligence application.
The preservation of the common cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples, and the prevention of its appropriation and distortion, should be one of the leading directions of our joint activities. In Azerbaijan, the foundations of intellectual property law were laid on the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and have been further improved in the subsequent years.
I am confident that the discussions to be held and the initiatives to be put forward during the Baku meeting will contribute to elevating cooperation between intellectual property institutions to a new level and to forming a favorable environment for comprehensive development to ensure that the Turkic world does not lag behind in global competition.
I wish success to the work of the event.”
