On September 25, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received George Walker, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Neuberger Berman, one of the world’s leading investment firms.
APA reports that during the conversation, President Ilham Aliyev’s meeting with George Walker in New York last year was recalled with pleasure.
Recalling the signing of the “Strategic Partnership Charter between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States of America” in February of this year, the head of state noted that a new chapter in the mutual relations between our countries has been opened.
At the meeting, the current state and prospects of investment cooperation between Azerbaijan and Neuberger Berman were discussed, and an exchange of views took place regarding new opportunities emerging in global investment markets, projects of mutual interest, and the expansion of long-term partnership.
It was emphasized that effective cooperation has been carried out between the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and Neuberger Berman since 2016. The results achieved within the framework of SOFAZ’s partnership with the company, covering private equity, private debt, and other investment areas, as well as opportunities for participation in new projects, were discussed.
It should be noted that Neuberger Berman, founded in New York in 1939, is one of the world’s largest independent investment firms. With $613 billion in assets, the company’s global investment platform for private markets manages over $170 billion in investment commitments. The portfolios of the funds invested in by the platform cover more than 10,400 companies, which demonstrates the scale of Neuberger Berman’s global investment activities.
