Traffic regime in Baku during Formula 1 announced

During the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, a number of main roads will be open for traffic at certain hours to ensure the convenience of city residents and drivers.

According to the information provided by the Baku City Circuit to “Elchi”, a new transit corridor will also be organized from the intersection of Uzeyir Hajibeyli and Pushkin streets towards Bulbul Avenue.

Due to the race, traffic restrictions will also be applied in certain areas.

The initial restriction will come into effect from 21:00 on September 19.

It will be applied to the section of Pushkin Street from its intersection with Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street and Neftchilar Avenue. The restriction will remain in place until the end of the event.

According to the Traffic Management Plan, the streets through which the Baku City Circuit passes and the areas covered by the track will be closed to traffic from 01:00 on September 20 to 08:00 on September 28. Entry and exit to the restricted zones will only be possible with a “Residential Access Permit”.

In addition, based on the experience of the last three years, some main roads will be open for traffic at certain hours during the race for the convenience of city residents and drivers.

Thus, on September 21 and 22, the entry and exit points listed below will be free for traffic without stopping or parking from 07:00 to 09:00 in the morning and from 18:00 to 20:00 in the evening.

On September 23, the mentioned roads will be open for traffic from 07:00 to 09:00 in the morning and from 20:00 to 22:00 in the evening.

Entry points:

– From Salyan Highway towards Neftchilar Avenue and Azneft Circle;

– From M. Lermontov Street towards UN 50th Anniversary Street and Istiglaliyyat Street;

– From S. Vurgun Street towards U. Hajibeyli Street and Bulbul Avenue;

– From Bulbul Avenue towards Khagani Street and Neftchilar Avenue;

– From the intersection of Nizami and Pushkin streets towards Khagani Street;

– From the intersection of U. Hajibeyli and Pushkin streets towards Bulbul Avenue.

Exit points:

– From Neftchilar Avenue towards Baku Sea Port, Port Baku Mall, and Crescent Mall;

– From Istiglaliyyat Street towards Azerbaijan Avenue;

– From Neftchilar Avenue towards Azneft Circle, Deniz Mall, and Salyan Highway.

During the specified period, except for public transport and heavy-duty trucks, the movement of vehicles will be provided through the established transit corridors.

While the transit corridors are open, parking of vehicles, boarding and alighting of passengers will not be allowed, except in cases of emergency. The speed limit in the transit corridors will be 50 km/h.

It should be noted that the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be held this year from September 24 to 26.
