Another victory for Azerbaijan’s chess teams at the Olympiad

The third round matches of the 46th World Chess Olympiad held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, have concluded.

elchi reports that the Azerbaijani men’s national team faced the Swiss team in this round. Our team defeated their opponent with a score of 3:1. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Aydin Suleymanli won their games, while Rauf Mamedov and Mahammad Muradli drew theirs.

The Azerbaijani women’s national team faced the Swedish team. Our team won with a score of 2.5:1.5. In the round where Gulnar Mammadova won, Ulviyya Fataliyeva, Gunay Mammadzada, and Govhar Beydullayeva finished their games in a draw.

Prior to this, the men’s team defeated Morocco 4:0 and the Philippines 3:1, while the women’s national team defeated Guatemala and Denmark 4:0.

It should be noted that the World Chess Olympiad, held under the Swiss system, will consist of 11 rounds and will conclude on September 27. A total of 1032 chess players from 208 teams are participating in the Olympiad.
