Two 25-year-old participants of the “Great North Run” half-marathon in England have died after their condition worsened during the race.
“Elchi” reports that Sky News channel announced this, citing the organizers.
It was stated that medical personnel provided all necessary assistance to the athletes, but it was not possible to save them. The exact causes of death are being investigated. The organizers expressed their condolences to the families of the deceased athletes.
It should be noted that the marathon from Newcastle to South Shields was held for the 45th time on September 13. 63,000 people participated, including the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham.
The next “Great North Run” is officially scheduled for September 12, 2027.
