As of August 1, 2026, the number of wage earners in Azerbaijan was 1,781.1 thousand, of which 836.9 thousand worked in the public sector and 944.2 thousand in the non-public sector.
According to the information provided to elchi by the State Statistical Committee, 18.9 percent of wage earners were employed in trade and repair of vehicles, 17.5 percent in education, 13.9 percent in industry, 8.6 percent in human health and social work activities, 6.8 percent in construction, 6.1 percent in public administration and defense; social security, 4.4 percent in transportation and storage, 3.9 percent in professional, scientific and technical activities, 2.5 percent in financial and insurance activities, 2.3 percent in agriculture, forestry and fishing, and 15.1 percent in other sectors of the economy.
In January-July 2026, the average monthly nominal wage of wage earners in the country increased by 7.2 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, amounting to 1176.7 manats.
