Ukraine has used up almost all of its interceptor missiles intended for American ‘Patriot’ air defense systems, and there is no solution to this problem in the short term.
“Elchi” reports that “The Economist” magazine writes about this.
The article notes that as a result of the US war against Iran, the reserves of interceptor missiles for ‘Patriot’ complexes have been depleted, and none of Kyiv’s partners are willing to provide their own missiles at a time when there is almost no possibility of replenishing them.
“There are some promising developments, but none of them will allow Ukraine to receive help in the short term,” the publication emphasizes. According to “The Economist”, by the end of 2026, Ukraine should receive two older batteries of the French and Italian ‘SAMP/T’ anti-aircraft missile system along with ‘Aster’ interceptor missiles, and eight new ‘SAMP/T NG’ systems in 2027. The publication does not rule out that Kyiv could obtain a license to produce ‘Aster’ missiles on its own, but this will also take time.
