The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia has proposed increasing the amount of state duties related to citizenship of the country.
“Elchi” reports that the “Hraparak” newspaper has published information about this.
According to the draft submitted for public discussion, it is planned to increase the state duty for obtaining Armenian citizenship from the current 50,000 drams to 250,000 drams.
At the same time, it is proposed to significantly increase the state duty paid for renouncing Armenian citizenship. It is planned to increase this amount, which is currently 150,000 drams, to 1,500,000 drams.
Thus, if the draft is adopted, the state duty for obtaining Armenian citizenship will increase by 5 times, and the fee for renouncing citizenship will increase by 10 times.
It is reported that the project has been submitted for public discussion.
