Operations at a number of major UK airports have been disrupted due to a technical fault in the air traffic control system.

The problem has affected flights operating from London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports, as well as Manchester, Edinburgh, and other airports. Passengers have been advised to check the status of their flights with their airlines.
The management of Heathrow Airport stated that they are working with the UK’s National Air Traffic Services (NATS) to resolve the issue.
Later, NATS announced that engineers had made adjustments to the system, after which the flight processing system began to recover. At the same time, the service warned that it would take some time for full operations to be restored.
The airline Ryanair reported that approximately 65,000 passengers were affected due to the malfunction, and 50 scheduled flights were canceled.
