An audio archive containing over 100 hours of rehearsals, concerts, and conversations of the British rock band “Oasis” has been put up for auction.
“Elchi” reports, citing British media, that the value of the audio archive is estimated at $1.6–2.2 million.
The recordings were made by Hugh Richards, the band’s sound engineer who worked with “Oasis” from the release of their debut album “Definitely Maybe” in 1994 until 2001.
The archive consists of 209 digital DAT audio cassettes, 73 analog audio cassettes, and three mini-discs. After Hugh Richards’ death, his son Wayne Richards decided to put the recordings up for auction.
According to Ben Homer, head of the “Littleton Auctions” house, “Oasis” representatives have expressed concerns regarding the content of the archive. However, he noted that the matter has been legally reviewed and the auction will take place on October 3.
The archive also includes a previously unreleased recording of the “Oasis” concert held on the shores of Loch Lomond in Scotland in 1996.
