On the night of September 2, a fire broke out and an attempted theft occurred at a major underground oil pipeline passing near the Savalan residential area in Mashtaga settlement, Sabunchu district.
“Elchi” reports that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has released information regarding this incident.
It was stated that after the fire was extinguished, an inspection of the area revealed that additional equipment had been installed for the purpose of illegal interference with the oil pipeline.
As a result of the measures taken by police officers, 31-year-old Kenan Aliyev and previously convicted 29-year-old Araz Yagubov, suspected of illegally interfering with the oil pipeline and attempting to steal from it, were identified and detained.
It should be noted that it was determined that the fire incident was caused precisely by these individuals’ illegal interference with the oil pipeline.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
