The VAT rule for Netflix, Zoom, and ChatGPT has changed; the platform, not the bank, will now calculate the tax.
Tahir Mirkishili, a member of the Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Committee of the Milli Majlis, made a statement regarding the issue.
The deputy stated that this payment method will lead to users utilizing the platforms at a lower cost:
“In fact, these rules will lead to users paying less. According to the rules, banks do not charge VAT from users on payments made to platforms registered for VAT purposes in Azerbaijan. This means a decrease in the total monthly payment for users. The VAT amount previously deducted from users’ accounts by the bank will now be paid by the digital platforms themselves.” (modern.az)
