The death toll from floods in the Rasuwa region of Nepal, near the border with China, and its surrounding areas has reached 794.
Efforts to rescue those trapped under floodwaters in areas near Nepal’s border with China are ongoing.
elchi reports, citing the BBC, that Nepalese police have announced that a total of 794 bodies have been recovered so far in various flood-affected areas.
Although search and identification operations continue in the flood-affected areas, more than 2,500 people, including 591 foreign nationals, are still missing.
In the Nawalparasi region, a bus carrying 38 rescued people crashed, leaving 32 injured. Authorities stated that 27 of the injured have been discharged from hospitals, while 5 are still receiving treatment. Following a rise in water levels in the Bhotekoshi River, Nepalese authorities have warned of potential new floods and urged residents in the affected areas to remain on high alert. The US State Department announced on social media that it would provide more than $3.6 million in humanitarian aid to Nepal, including emergency food assistance for 10,000 families. Previously, it was reported that the death toll from the floods in Nepal had reached 16 in China’s Tibet Autonomous Region.
