Former UEFA president Platini demands Infantino’s resignation

Former UEFA president Michel Platini has demanded the resignation of FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

“Elchi” reports, citing foreign media, that the French football official has harshly criticized Infantino’s leadership.

He stated that Infantino is not fulfilling his duties:

“Economic issues are one thing. But I think Infantino has failed. Because he is the guarantor of the rules of the game and he has not respected them. The rules do not provide for commercial breaks, mandatory water breaks during the 2026 World Cup, or a 30-minute break in the final. And the abolition of the red card is the worst thing that has happened so far. He is the guarantor of the rules, but he does not respect them. He must go.”

It should be noted that Infantino has also been criticized for his plans to attract private investment for the World Cup. UEFA, CONCACAF, and the AFC have rejected this proposal.

Later, reports emerged that UEFA is preparing to open a criminal case against Infantino regarding the attempt to sell part of the World Cup rights to private investors.
