Security measures have been strengthened in Bishkek in connection with the holding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
“Elchi” reports, citing the “MIR 24” TV channel, that nearly 15,000 employees from Kyrgyzstan’s internal affairs agencies, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and other departments are serving in a reinforced work mode in Bishkek, where delegations from 21 countries have arrived.
According to the information, security posts have been set up along roads, near hotels, and main event venues in the Kyrgyz capital. Security forces are on duty day and night, changing shifts every 12 hours.
Due to the scale of the event, even tax service employees have been involved in guarding the hotels.
Electric grid specialists, ready to quickly resolve potential problems, are also on duty near the hotels.
Law enforcement officers’ uniforms are equipped with special red and blue flashing beacons at night to ensure that passing motorcades are clearly visible.
One of Bishkek’s shopping centers has been closed to visitors during the summit and made available for journalists.
At the same time, Kyrgyzstan is preparing for the opening of the World Nomad Games. According to the TV channel, about 100,000 participants and guests are expected to arrive in the country for the event.
