Organized by the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, fire-tactical exercises on fire extinguishing were held at the “Ethylene-Polyethylene” plant of SOCAR’s “Azerkimya” Production Union located in the city of Sumgayit.
According to the information provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations to “Elchi”, the main purpose of the exercise was to further improve the interaction of fire protection units involved in the area in case of a fire at such facilities, to strengthen the professional skills of personnel in extinguishing possible fires and organizing rescue operations, as well as to increase the knowledge of the facility’s relevant staff regarding initial response procedures during fires.
During the exercise, after the “Alarm” signal was given regarding a simulated fire, fire protection and rescue units arrived at the “scene” in an operational manner and began “firefighting” measures. In accordance with the evacuation plan in the area where the simulated fire occurred, employees were evacuated to a safe place, “first aid was provided” to those who suffered simulated injuries, and the “fire was extinguished in a short time.”
A total of 9 pieces of equipment and 40 personnel from the State Fire Protection Service, the Sumgayit Regional Center, and the Emergency and Urgent Medical Aid Station were involved in the exercise.
After the successfully conducted exercise, the results obtained were discussed, and relevant instructions were given.
