Saudi Arabia’s Air Defense (AD) systems have intercepted several unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iraqi territory towards the kingdom’s oil facilities.
elchi reports that this was stated by the official representative of the Saudi Ministry of Defense, Turki al-Maliki.
“Over the past few hours, air defense forces have intercepted and destroyed several drones attempting to attack oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh,” the ministry’s statement said.
According to al-Maliki, the attack attempts were carried out by “terrorist groups linked to Iran” from Iraqi territory. He emphasized that Saudi Arabia affirms its inherent right to defend its territory and infrastructure, and also reserves the right to take countermeasures “at the appropriate time and place.”
