Brazil has recalled its ambassador to Buenos Aires following accusations from Argentine leader Milei.
elchi reports that, according to national media, the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement regarding the matter.
In the statement, it is noted that Ambassador Julio Bitelli was asked to return to the country following Milei’s remarks in São Paulo targeting Lula da Silva and Supreme Court Justice Moraes.
Supreme Court President Luiz Edson Fachin also condemned Milei for his comments targeting Moraes and emphasized the independence of the judicial system.
Workers’ Party (PT) leader Edinho Silva accused Milei of disrespecting Brazilian institutions and President Lula da Silva. In his speech at the Liberal Party convention held at the Pacaembu stadium in São Paulo, Milei expressed his support for former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and harshly criticized Lula da Silva and Supreme Court Justice Moraes, who ordered Bolsonaro’s house arrest. Calling the house arrest decision “illegal,” Milei stated, “While Lula did not refrain from receiving foreign leaders while in prison, Brazilian justice does not allow me to visit my friend who is unjustly under house arrest.” The convention also decided to nominate Bolsonaro’s son, Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, as the Liberal Party’s presidential candidate. Harshly criticizing Brazilian leader Lula da Silva, Milei called on Flavio Bolsonaro to “stop the socialist chaos” in the October elections.
