MES appeal to those heading to the beach this weekend

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has called on citizens who will head to water bodies for recreation this weekend due to hot weather conditions to strictly follow safety rules.

elchi reports that the ministry’s appeal stated that the air temperature in the country, including Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, is forecast to rise to 41 degrees Celsius in some places today and tomorrow. It is expected that citizens will flock to water bodies in large numbers under such weather conditions.

MES noted that in some cases, failure to follow safety rules leads to tragic consequences.

The ministry reminded citizens that swimming in areas not designated as beaches, including canals, rivers, ditches, and other water bodies, is prohibited. Also, swimming beyond the established boundaries of the swimming zone, as well as entering the beach area with boats and small vessels other than rescue equipment, is not allowed.

The appeal emphasized that children should not be left unattended on the beach, and the requirements of warning signs and boards, as well as the instructions of lifeguards, must be strictly followed. Staying under the scorching sun for a long time and entering the water after dark is also considered dangerous.

Calling on citizens to treat safety rules responsibly, the MES stated that in case of danger, the 112 hotline should be contacted immediately.
