From July, Great Britain visas have become completely digital and are no longer affixed to passports.
“Elchi” reports that this is stated in the information posted on the website of the United Kingdom’s Foreign Office.
Electronic visas (eVisa) mean a “digital record confirming identity and immigration status.”
The British Foreign Office emphasized that since the introduction of this type of visa in 2018, millions of people have already been able to process them.
“Replacing your current paper document with an eVisa does not affect your immigration status or the conditions of your permission to enter or stay in the UK,” the ministry noted.
The ministry stated that electronic visas have a number of advantages compared to visas stamped in foreign passports: they cannot be lost or damaged, there is no need to visit an embassy or consulate in person after providing biometric data, and passing through border control is faster and simplified in terms of procedure.
In addition, the Foreign Office added that it is easier for eVisa holders to provide information about their immigration status to potential employers or landlords.
