The investigations and laboratory tests conducted by the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AQTA) regarding the food poisoning incidents that occurred in Ganja and Samukh between July 12 and 17, 2026, have been concluded.
It was reported to elchi from AQTA that the Agency’s inspectors examined the scenes and collected samples for laboratory testing from food products offered for consumption and various surfaces.
According to the results, Staphylococcus aureus was detected in the sample taken from the ready-to-eat meal, Staphylococcus aureus and coliform bacteria were found in the lavash product, and Escherichia coli (E.coli) was detected in the cheese product.
The presence of these microorganisms in food products indicates that the products were subjected to microbiological contamination and that personal and general hygiene rules, as well as sanitary requirements, were not fully followed during the production and processing stages.
Within the framework of control measures, other individuals and facilities selling the lavash product were identified, and the recall of the products was ensured.
Relevant state authorities have been notified regarding the detected legal violations.
The Agency recommends that citizens purchase food products only from manufacturers and sales outlets that are officially registered and operate in accordance with food safety requirements.
