Turks, like the Greeks, are equal owners of Cyprus, and Cyprus will never be a Greek island.
elchi reports that Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated this during his speech at an event held in Nicosia, the capital of Northern Cyprus, on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.
“The international community must accept that Turkish Cypriots, like the Greeks, are equal owners of these lands. Cyprus will never be a Greek island,” said C. Yılmaz.
He emphasized that Turkey will continue to support Northern Cyprus:
“No initiative in which Turkey does not participate and where the rights of Turkish Cypriots and our legitimate interests in the Eastern Mediterranean are not taken into account can succeed.”
