On July 17, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to our country, Sok Chea.
“Elchi” reports that the ambassador presented his credentials to the head of state.
President Ilham Aliyev had a conversation with the ambassador.
Noting that our country attaches great importance to bilateral relations and mutual support with Cambodia, as well as contacts at the level of our governments and ruling parties, the head of state touched upon the importance of taking our relations to a higher level not only in the political sphere but also in the fields of economy and investments, and stated that Azerbaijan and Cambodia are friendly countries.
Expressing his gratitude to the head of state for the reception, the ambassador conveyed the greetings of King of Cambodia Norodom Sihamoni and Prime Minister Hun Manet to President Ilham Aliyev.
The head of state expressed his gratitude for the greetings and asked to convey his own greetings to the King and Prime Minister of Cambodia.
The ambassador emphasized that Cambodia attaches great value to friendly relations with Azerbaijan. He said that despite the fact that our countries are geographically far from each other, Azerbaijan and Cambodia share the same position on issues of sustainable development, international peace, and stability.
Noting that there is good potential for strengthening bilateral cooperation, the ambassador emphasized that he will spare no effort to expand our relations in the fields of trade, tourism, culture, and people-to-people contacts.
At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Cambodia within the framework of international organizations.
Hope was expressed that the expected visit of the Prime Minister of Cambodia to our country will create good opportunities for the further development of our bilateral relations.
