Military Prosecutor’s Office: The number of non-military crimes decreased by 4.9 percent

In the first half of 2026, the total number of recorded crimes decreased by 0.9 percent, and the number of non-military crimes decreased by 4.9 percent compared to the same period last year.

elchi reports that this was announced at an expanded board meeting held at the Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, dedicated to discussing the work done and future tasks in the field of combating crime, strengthening legality and rule of law, and protecting human and civil rights and freedoms in the first half of 2026.

It was stated that compared to the first half of 2025, in the first half of 2026, crimes related to evasion of military service decreased by 21.2 percent, negligence in service by 9.1 percent, violation of rules for handling weapons and items posing a high danger to others by 50 percent, theft or extortion of firearms, ammunition, explosives, and devices by 75 percent, violation of traffic and vehicle operation rules by 16.7 percent, hooliganism by 71.4 percent, and bribery and corruption crimes by 42.3 percent.
