Azerbaijan’s position regarding the ‘3+3’ regional cooperation platform has been clarified.
“Elchi” reports that Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated this during a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.
The Minister noted that President Ilham Aliyev first put forward this initiative in 2021: “It is important to note that at that time, the situation and regional dynamics in the South Caucasus were completely different compared to now.
At the current stage, the situation has changed fundamentally. So far, three meetings have been held within the framework of the platform in Moscow, Tehran, and Istanbul, respectively.
Azerbaijan’s position is that this format is an important regional cooperation mechanism. From this perspective, approximately one month after the last meeting held in 2024, Azerbaijan proposed that the next meeting be held in our country.
We believe that this platform is of great importance for the participating states in terms of discussing all issues of mutual interest. It is based on such an approach that we once again reaffirm our readiness to host the next meeting in Azerbaijan.”
