President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Prime Minister of the State of Palestine Mohammad Mustafa on July 16.
“Elchi” reports that the head of our state expressed his confidence that Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa’s visit to our country would contribute to the strengthening of brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Palestine.
The President of Azerbaijan emphasized that our country supports the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Expressing his honor to meet with the head of our state, Mohammad Mustafa conveyed the greetings of the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, to President Ilham Aliyev.
The head of our state expressed his gratitude for the greetings and asked to convey his own greetings to Mahmoud Abbas. President Ilham Aliyev recalled with pleasure Mahmoud Abbas’s visit to our country, as well as his meetings with him within the framework of international events.
Mohammad Mustafa stated that a difficult situation currently prevails in Palestine and expressed his hope that they would be able to overcome this situation with the help of friends. In this regard, he expressed his gratitude to the head of our state for the support Azerbaijan has provided to Palestine, as well as for the intention to build a secondary school in Palestine as humanitarian aid.
During the conversation, the opening of Azerbaijan’s Representative Office in the city of Ramallah and the coverage of the expenses of the Palestinian Embassy in our country by the Azerbaijani state were assessed as an indicator of the high level of our bilateral relations.
At the meeting, it was recalled that as a result of the “Conference on the Establishment of the Islamic Financial Safety Net” and the “Conference of Donor Countries on Financing the Sector Plan for the Development of the City of Jerusalem” hosted by our country in 2013, Azerbaijan provided 5 million dollars in financial aid to Palestine, and it was emphasized that our country also provides aid to Palestine through the UN agency UNRWA.
It was highly appreciated that 23 Palestinian students are studying in Azerbaijan under the “Heydar Aliyev International Education Grant,” and a total of 37 Palestinian students are studying in our country.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the head of our state for these.
During the conversation, the issue of exporting some Palestinian agricultural products to our country under preferential terms was discussed, and an exchange of views took place on issues of mutual interest.
