Lula da Silva: Brazil activates reciprocity law in response to US tariffs

The Brazilian government will immediately activate the national law on economic reciprocity in response to the US decision to impose new 25 percent tariffs on Brazilian goods.

“Elchi” reports that this was stated by the country’s president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

“Brazil will immediately begin analyzing possible countermeasures provided for in the reciprocity law, and will also resume discussions within the framework of the WTO (World Trade Organization — ed.) dispute settlement mechanism,” the head of state wrote on the “X” social network.

The president emphasized that the Brazilian government has already prepared a plan to protect the national economy, which will provide support to sectors affected by the “illegal and arbitrary” tariffs imposed by the US. In addition, Brazil intends to open new foreign sales markets.
