Ensuring lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus is one of Ankara’s main foreign policy priorities.
elchi reports that this is reflected in the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ 2026 Action Program.
The document states that the normalization process with Armenia will continue in conditions of close consultation and coordination with Azerbaijan. At the same time, Turkey will continue its support for the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Turkey’s MFA noted that support for Azerbaijan will be further strengthened in order to contribute to the resolution of conflicts in the South Caucasus and to ensure regional peace and stability.
The document emphasizes that for the sake of ensuring long-term stability, prosperity, and security in the region, the Turkey-Armenia and Azerbaijan-Armenia-Azerbaijan-Armenia processes must move forward in a coordinated manner.
The report allocates a separate place to relations with Azerbaijan. It is stated that exceptional relations built on a common language, history, culture, and identity will be further strengthened through mutual high-level contacts.
“It is aimed that our strategic partnership will contribute to peace, prosperity, and stability in the South Caucasus through bilateral and multilateral initiatives. Along with this, our close coordination and cooperation with Azerbaijan within the framework of regional normalization processes will be resolutely continued,” the document noted.
It is emphasized in the Turkish MFA’s Action Program that Ankara will continue its coordinated activities with Azerbaijan in 2026 towards advancing the peace agenda in the South Caucasus.
