As a result of the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, 4,561 people have died and 16,740 have been injured.
According to “Elchi”, the updated data was presented by Jorge Rodríguez, President of the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic.
According to him, 17,907 people have been left homeless, 190 buildings have been completely destroyed, and 856 buildings have been severely damaged. During the search and rescue operations, 6,462 people were saved, and 33,085 people received treatment in medical facilities. Assistance has been provided to 128,324 families, 20,231 people have been placed in 107 temporary camps, and 10,063 tons of food have been distributed to the victims.
It should be recalled that on the night of June 25, two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 occurred in northern Venezuela with a 39-second interval. The United Nations Development Programme estimates the damage caused by the disaster at approximately 6.7 billion dollars. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
