Strengthening Ukraine’s missile defense capabilities is one of the key factors for the successful conclusion of the war.
According to elchi, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in Paris following the first meeting of the Volunteer Coalition and the European Anti-Ballistic Coalition.
It should be noted that today, Ukraine, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom announced the creation of an integrated Anti-Ballistic Defense Coalition. The leaders of the new coalition acknowledge the unique experience Ukraine has gained in defending against Russian aggression. In the relevant declaration, European countries emphasize their commitment to defining common operational requirements, establishing joint technical working groups, creating clear management mechanisms, and developing a roadmap to achieve the coalition’s initial operational capabilities in accordance with constitutional treaties and international obligations.
“Strong anti-ballistic capabilities are essential to end Russia’s war against Ukraine. The more air defense assets Ukraine has, the higher the probability that the Russian President will sit down at the negotiating table. These capabilities are no less important than diplomatic or economic pressure on Russia’s military economy or combat operations at the front,” Zelensky said.
According to the Ukrainian leader, work on the joint “Freyja” system is not intended to replace existing air defense systems.
“Our work on the joint ‘Freyja’ system is not intended to replace existing systems. It is a method to complement our defense, create a reliable shield over all of Europe, and do all of this faster and more efficiently,” Zelensky emphasized.
