The head of state spoke about Azerbaijan’s importance as a transport corridor

If you had looked at the flight map during the period of intense confrontation, you would have seen that a very narrow air corridor passed exactly over Azerbaijan.

elchi reports that President Ilham Aliyev stated this at the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum.

“If you had looked at the flight map during the period of intense confrontation, you would have seen that a very narrow air corridor passed exactly over Azerbaijan. The same situation applies to maritime transport carried out through the Caspian Sea and land transport. All these factors further increase the importance of Azerbaijan. It is gratifying that we are ready to accept the increasing flow of cargo. We are currently expanding our infrastructure. The capacity of our port, which is the largest commercial port in the Caspian basin and currently has an annual throughput capacity of 15 million tons, will be increased to 25 million tons. Currently, 10 ships are being built at our shipyard to ensure the transport of goods from and to Europe. Our close relations with Central Asian countries and the European Commission, as well as our location right in the center of these two directions, create a great advantage for Azerbaijan. Of course, Azerbaijan’s policy has always been aimed at cooperation, taking into account the concerns of our neighbors, and their sensitive approach to our concerns as well. This is exactly the atmosphere we felt at the Media Forum held in Shusha. We are trying to form the same atmosphere of cooperation and trust among our international partners, and I hope we have achieved this,” the head of state noted.
