President: There were those in Russia who were punished for their positive stance on Azerbaijan

Mikhail Gusman is a worthy son of the Azerbaijani people.

“Elchi” reports that President Ilham Aliyev stated this at the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum.

“As he himself said, he has been on a ‘business trip’ in Russia for about 40 years, but during all these years, he has never severed his ties with Azerbaijan. He has always been with us, rejoiced in our successes, and shared our concerns during difficult times.

During the Second Karabakh War, he effectively lived in the frontline zone, preparing reports from there. This demonstrated his character and his devotion to his people and his Motherland. At the same time, he made a significant contribution to breaking the information blockade,” the head of state noted.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that Mikhail Gusman is speaking here on behalf of those who suffered in a certain sense: “Because of a question he asked me at this very forum last year—as far as I know, he was sitting right there—he was removed from the position he held in the organization he had served for decades and for whose development he had put in great effort. Last year, there were other victims in Russia as well. I do not see one of them here today. I hope he has not been arrested. May God grant him good health. One person was fired for asking a positive question about the President of Azerbaijan. Another was declared a ‘foreign agent’ for expressing positive opinions about Azerbaijan.”
