Azerbaijan has extradited persons wanted internationally to Uzbekistan.
According to the information provided to elchi by the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of combating crime is successfully continuing. The requests of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the extradition of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Mirzaalimov Raxmatullo Nomancanovich, born in 1981, and Toxtasinov Azamatcon Abduqapparovich, for the purpose of bringing them to criminal responsibility, were granted by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Thus, Raxmatullo Mirzaalimov and Azamatcon Toxtasinov, who were declared internationally wanted for committing crimes of embezzlement on an especially large scale by a group of persons by prior conspiracy using their official position, as well as the use of knowingly forged documents causing grave consequences in Uzbekistan, were identified and detained in Azerbaijan in April 2026, and a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against them.
In accordance with the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters dated October 7, 2002, decisions on the extradition of the accused were made, and the latter were handed over to the competent authority of the Republic of Uzbekistan accompanied by a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
