A delegation from Azerbaijan will attend the funeral ceremony of the former Supreme Leader of Iran, Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
“Elchi” reports that the delegation includes Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova, Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, Prime Minister of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Jabbar Musayev, and other officials.
It should be noted that Ali Khamenei’s farewell ceremony will be held on July 4-5 at the Mosalla complex in Tehran, after which the funeral procession will head to the city of Qom.
Following the farewell ceremony in Qom, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will be laid to rest in Mashhad on July 9, in accordance with his will.
It is worth recalling that Seyyed Ali Khamenei was killed along with his close family members during a joint US and Israeli attack on Tehran on February 28.
Subsequently, his son Mojtaba Khamenei was chosen as his successor.
Additionally, the representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Hakim Elahi, announced that Mojtaba Khamenei would not attend his father’s funeral.
He cited security concerns as the reason for this.
